An antique jewelled ‘conjoined hearts’ brooch
English, circa 1900
a highly unusual design, in the form of two stylised hearts joined together like padlocks, pavé set with diamonds and dotted with cabochon rubies in yellow gold collets, mounted in platinum and yellow gold.
Length: 3.8cm
The jewel is a potent love token which represents two lives that have been joined together by love. Diamonds are symbolic of eternal love as they are indestructible, whilst rubies symbolise passion.
