An antique gem-set caterpillar brooch
English, circa 1900
the articulated body mounted with rosecut diamonds, with alternating pairs of rubies and demantoid garnets representing the spiracles, the chased gold head mounted with a single diamond and a pair a cabochon rubies for the eyes, mounted in silver and gold.
