The slip-cast cylindrical body applied with a flowering prunus branch flanked by scroll motifs within lathe-turned reeded borders, the hinged cover with a leaf-cast scroll silver gilt thumb-piece and inset with a silver medallion, inscribed ‘Ich schenke bier und wein fur dich und mich’ ( I give beer and wine for you and me), encircled to the base with a silver gilt foot.

Circa 1695, the silver gilt mounts contemporary and probably German.
