Seal, Carl Fabergé , c.1880

Gold, aquamarine and ruby

<

fashioned from an aquamarine crystal, aquamarines belong to the hexagonal crystal system and Fabergé has employed the stone’s natural form to model the seal, it is entwined by a gold snake handle with a cabochon ruby sunk into its head.
