Buttons, Carl Fabergé, c.1900

Mother-of-Pearl, Diamonds and Enamel

<

with six discs of mother-of-pearl edged with gold enamelled opalescent oyster and sewn with rose diamond set threads, together with fittings allowing them to be worn as cufflinks as well as buttons.

Contained in their original silk and velvet lined hollywood box, the lid satin stamped in Cyrillic:

‘Fabergé, St. Petersburg, Moscow, Odessa’ beneath the Imperial warrant.

Workmaster: August Hollming,
St. Petersburg, c.1900

Diameter: 1.6 cm.

The buttons are intended to provide a visual joke when worn, as they would appear to be sewn on to a garment with diamond threads.
