Starting with a shop in Milan in 1919, Mario Buccellati (1891-1965) built an empire which would include boutiques in Rome, Florence and New York by 1954. The firm’s distinctive style and use of innovative goldsmithing techniques provided them with a captive post-war audience, who were eager for colourful and luxurious designs.
