Aquamarine and diamond necklace by Olga Tritt
New York, circa 1939
suspending waves of graduating rectangular aquamarines, surmounted by a scroll of calibre cut diamonds emanating and centred by round brilliant cut diamonds, the back of the necklace curved to fit the neck and similarly mounted with aquamarines below an articulated diamond scroll, the front and back joined by geometric and fan shaped links mounted with brilliant and calibre cut diamonds.

Olga Tritt was based in New York and specialised in antique jewellery, as well as her own newly designed pieces.

In 1939, she created a collection of jewels at the request of the Brazilian government to showcase the country’s wealth of gem material at the World Fair in New York. It is most likely that the aquamarines used in this exceptional necklace were sourced from Brazil.

She included the Duchess of Windsor among her illustrious customers, selling her a substantial natural pearl drop in 1948.
