St. Petersburg, before 1896.

carved from a single piece of agate in the form of an apple, the gold stalk enamelled translucent green over a hand engraved ground and topped with a rose diamond.

Purchased by the Her Imperial Majesty The Dowager Empress Maria Feodorovna of Russia from Fabergé in St. Petersburg, 7th February 1901, for 70 roubles.

The Fabergé invoice for the gumpot, dated 7th February 1901.
It is noted with ‘Noël’, indicating the gumpot was bought by the Dowager Empress as a Christmas gift.
