An Art Deco platinum and diamond gendarme brooch by Mauboussin,

Paris, circa 1925

modelled as a gendarme from the Napoleonic Imperial guard standing to attention, the design geometricized in the Art Deco taste, mounted in platinum with pavé set brilliant cut diamonds, his sash denoted by a row of diagonally set baguette cut diamonds, his boots, epaulettes and the feather in his bearskin denoted by vari-cut baguette diamonds, his hands and features likewise represented by baguette cut diamonds.
