an ingenious design invented by Van Cleef and Arpel’s for their iconic ‘Un Cercle’ collection, in the form of a platinum ring mounted with pavé set brilliant cut and baguette cut diamonds, with a hinged armature with what was described in the original catalogue as “a magic-closure…ideal for a hat, bodice, or bag,” creating the illusion that the ring goes through the fabric.
