of circular shape, comprising of an intricately chased yellow gold lizard, its skin engraved withn scales and folds, its tale encircling its body supporting its four pierced gold feet.

Stamped with the French owl mark for eighteen carat gold.

Diameter: 2.5cm

The design for this brooch is reproduced on page 1014 of Katherine Purcell’s translation of Henri Vever’s La Bijouterie Française au XIXe Siècle. A colour photograph of a near identical brooch is also illustrated on page 813.
