An emerald and diamond clover brooch

English, circa 1905

modelled as a four-leaf clover, each leaflet centred with an emerald surrounded by pavé set old European cut diamonds, a single diamond to the centre, mounted in platinum and backed in yellow gold.

Length: 3cm

The four leaf clover has long been as symbol of good fortune. Diamonds are a symbol of eternal love, for they are indestructible and incorruptible. The brooch is therefore a rebus for ‘lucky in love.’
