An Art Deco Sapphire and Diamond Brooch by Tiffany & Co.

mounted in white gold, consisting of overlapping circular discs, the concentric circles comprising four elements set with diamonds and sapphires in different permutations of the pattern.

Overlapping circular motifs are found in Japanese textiles, sometimes with spiraling patterns symbolic of swirls of water.
