A Rare Pair of Antique Gem-set Chandelier Earrings

French, c.1770


the gemstones mounted in closed back settings in yellow gold set above silver foil, including emeralds, rubies, sapphires, topaz, turquoise, amethysts, citrines, garnets, green tourmalines and pearls, the tops comprising of gem-set clusters centred with oval shaped hessonite garnets, suspending drops topped with gem-set domes from which hang three graduated discs suspending pear shaped drops, each terminating with a three sided drop.

Stamped with a butterfly mark to the hoop fitting which was in use between 1768-1774.
