Provenance
Discovered by a metal detectorist five inches deep under cultivated land in Oaksey, Wiltshire on 17th January 2016. The ring was declared as treasure under the Treasure Act 1996 and submitted to the H. M. Coroner. It was given treasure case number 2016-T170. The Crown’s interest in the ring was disclaimed, and it was returned to the detectorist from whom Wartski acquired it.

The term ‘pie dish’ is an Antiquarian description of a shaped bezel resembling a baking tin, from which the pie like stone rises.
The ring was complete, but the band distorted on finding and has been straightened.
