carved from black obsidian (a volcanic glass) with delicately foiled rose cut diamonds eyes, the stone carefully chosen for its flashes of silk which mirror the texture of a short haired dog.

Height: 4cm (at the head)

An almost identical model in orange coloured aventurine quartz belongs to His Majesty The King and is illustrated in Fabergé’s Animals: A Royal Farm in Miniature on page 54.
