A Gold Fly Locket Brooch

in yellow gold with ribbed body and six legs, the thorax, eyes and wings meticulously engraved with veining and hairs, the wings pivoted so they open to reveal a glazed compartment beneath.

In antiquity the fly had divine connotations, representing the omnipresence of a deity. It is also associated with surviving and thriving against adversity.
