with a gently tapering cylindrical handle carved from lapis lazuli, the spreading mount champlevé enamelled opaque white between engraved gold lines and encircled top and bottom with trails of green gold laurels against a yellow gold ground, the circular grey chalcedony sealstone engraved ‘AB’.

Fabergé knew Lapis lazuli as ‘Azurite’ and sourced the specimens used in objects of the scale of the seal from Bukhara, in modern day Uzbekistan.
