yellow gold and garnet, displaying the letter R, the letter in Black Letter script, formed from a shaped bezel, above a garnet, the tapering shoulders decorated with a trefoiled plant stem on a background of cross hatching.

Provenance

 

Discovered by a metal detectorist on cultivated land  in Rampisham, Dorset on 14th November 2014. The ring was declared as treasure under the Treasure Act 1996 and submitted to the H. M. Coroner. It was given treasure case number 2014T855. The Crown’s interest in the ring was disclaimed.
